A record number of volunteers helped plant about 8,000 drought-resistant flowers, shrubs and small trees Saturday at the city’s Tierra Nativa event. More than 780 people of all ages gathered at the Oso Creek Trail to take part in the annual “Celebration of the Native Land.” The event was in observation of Volunteer Connection Day, Earth Day, Imagination Celebration, Arbor Day and National Trails Day all at once.
