Council member Shawn Boyd was recently named vice chairman by the Orange County Fire Authority. Boyd’s position will be as a spokesman for the authority and he will meet with its board of directors weekly. The board consists of one representative from each of the 20 cities served by the authority and two representatives from the county Board of Supervisors. The fire authority recently presented its new 10-year contract to the city.
