The Southern Section football championships last weekend featured a range of emotions, from delight to disappointment, from celebration to frustration. Two Orange County teams came away with titles, but only one felt like celebrating. Newport Harbor beat Irvine in the Division VI game. Mater Dei rallied to tie Long Beach Poly for a share of the Division I championship. In the Division IX game, Brea Olinda failed to win its first title since 1963, losing to Bonita.
