Nature rarely cooperates to schedule conception and childbirth at the parents’ convenience. But a new, somewhat-macho feature of the BabyCenter Web site (https://www.babycenter.com) will let sports fans know if they are going to miss a major sporting event due to childbirth.

One feature of the site, called the Sports Event Conflict Catcher, allows a couple to enter a due date and find out what major sports events might conflict with childbirth. The second feature, called the Conception Blocker, allows a couple to select from a list of major sports events for information about when it’s best not to conceive “so as to maintain optimum viewing availability.”

OK, so you use these tools and, with luck, the baby is born at 2 a.m. and you haven’t missed a single second of “Monday Night Football.” Just wait until the baby comes home. Not only will you never watch a complete game--from pregame to postgame show--ever again. . . .
