LOS ALAMITOS

Planning commissioners are set to debate a dispute between the city and cafe owners, who want their customers to be able to sit outside, drink alcohol and listen to live entertainment.
Lance LeCompte, owner of the Jabberwocky Java Coffeehouse Cafe on Los Alamitos Boulevard, claims that his original permit allows the patio seating. The city disagrees and has sued him for creating a public nuisance; officials are prepared to argue the matter in court later this month. In the meantime, LeCompte has applied for an amended permit to make the outdoor area legal in the eyes of the city.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 3191 Katella Ave. Information: (562) 431-3538.
