Jesse Foster, a 6-foot-7 junior center for Campbell Hall, played Wednesday night as if he were a 7-footer in a Southern Section Division V-AA wild-card playoff game.
Foster had 22 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks to help the Vikings rout St. Margaret’s of San Juan Capistrano, 83-48, in North Hollywood.
Campbell Hall (18-9), the third-place finisher in the Delphic League, will travel to Whitewater, north of Palm Springs, in a first-round game on Friday.
“They didn’t have any big people, so I went inside,” said Foster, who had a four-inch height advantage over the tallest St. Margaret’s player.
Campbell Hall was leading, 30-23, at halftime, but outscored the Tartans, 30-13, in the third quarter. The key was getting more players involved in the offense with Foster.
Greg Drobnick scored 11 of his 15 points in the third quarter. Hassan Bassiri finished with 19 points and Josh Levy had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Campbell Hall.
Brian Sternberg scored 19 points and Alex Huff, averaging 23.5 points, added 18 for St. Margaret’s (12-10).
