There aren’t any mints on the pillows or continental breakfasts in the dorms at Vanguard University, but during the summer, the school turns into a virtual hotel. While classes are out in June and July, Vanguard rents out rooms to vacationers, foreign exchange students, church groups and even Orange County Fair vendors. The summer enterprise is a great source of revenue for the school, and guests can save a bundle of money by paying just $16 a night. The campus also has 10 RV hookups that fair vendors take advantage of during July. Staying at Vanguard isn’t for everyone, though: There is no drinking or smoking allowed on the Christian campus.
