Royals, Ownership Group to Talk

Miles Prentice and the people trying to sell him the Kansas City Royals learned they will meet next week with Commissioner Bud Selig and baseball’s ownership committee.
Prentice, Royal Chairman David Glass and team President Mike Herman are scheduled to meet with the 11-member committee Wednesday in Milwaukee.
The ownership committee studies applications for franchise ownership and then passes them along to the 30 major league owners for their approval or rejection, usually with a recommendation.
Prentice, whose group has a deal to purchase the team for $75 million, had hoped the ownership committee would take up his application next week at baseball’s quarterly meeting in Pittsburgh, but Selig canceled the meeting last week, saying there weren’t enough agenda items.
