LA PALMA

The La Palma library is holding a reading contest for children and teens this summer. The library has been decorated like a medieval castle, complete with dragons painted on the window and back wall, to reflect the summer reading program’s theme: “Long Ago and Far Away . . . A Dragon’s Tale.”
Children under 13 who sign up get prizes, such as stickers and puppets, for every 10 books they read, plus an entry in a drawing for bigger prizes; teens get a prize for every five high-school level books they read. Information: (714) 523-8585.
