* Ameron International Corp., a Pasadena-based maker of specialized construction products, reported higher fiscal second-quarter earnings for the period ended May 31. Net income rose to $6.02 million, or $1.50 per share, compared with $4.5 million, or $1.09 per share, a year ago. Revenue rose to $149.5 million from $137 million.

* Los Angeles-based Occidental Petroleum Corp. said that the Oklahoma Supreme Court denied a petition by Chevron Corp. asking for a rehearing of a breach-of-contract case relating to Chevron’s 1984 purchase of Gulf Oil that ended in a $742.2-million judgment. Chevron said it will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
