U.N. Dues

* Re “U.S. Urged to Pay Up or Risk Losing U.N. Seat,” Nov. 7: Let’s see, the U.S. government doesn’t like the way the U.N. spends its money, so it protests by not paying its dues. Following the example of the U.S. government then, if I disagreed with federal tax policy I could engage in a similar peaceful protest by not paying my taxes.
I’m sure Uncle Sam would see the parallel and cut me some slack. Yeah right, Uncle Sam’s bill collector would seize my assets and throw me in the clink faster than you can say “civil disobedience!” To the president and Congress I say, “Pay up or shut up!”
