LETTERS ANNEX : Secret Thoughts

Having just spent an amazing Fourth of July on Kauai, I was surprised to see Secret Beach Hideaway II featured in the Travel Section (“Three Island Hideouts,” July 18). I immediately thought “Oh, no! But it’s a secret! Don’t ruin it!”
Thankfully, the $325-per-night rate, four-night minimum and hefty $100 cleaning fee would deter the average traveler (and certainly me as well). It definitely helped that my access was through friends.
Secret Beach was easily one of the major highlights on my trip. The few hours I spent there were magical. It was a Saturday, and I could barely make out a couple of people in either direction; otherwise the beach and its beauty were all mine.
Susan Spano, thank you for writing such wonderful columns and for sharing Edens you’ve discovered all over the world. I know if it were up to me, I’d keep it a secret.
