NASA astronaut candidate Tracy Caldwell hopes to travel vast distances in space, but on Thursday her destination was closer to home. The 1993 Cal State Fullerton graduate stopped by the Brea Art Gallery’s exhibit on space exploration to present a slide show about her experiences training to be an astronaut.
“I spent so much time growing up in this area,” Caldwell said. “I’m excited to teach kids about space.”
Caldwell is a chemist with a doctorate from UC Davis. She also is fluent in three languages, including American Sign Language.
