Monroe 14, Canoga Park 6--Calvin Roger and Robert Ortiz broke up a pass in the end zone on the last play of the game to preserve the victory at Monroe.
The Vikings (2-0) took a 14-6 lead with 14 seconds left in the third quarter on a 49-yard run by DeAndre Phillips, who gained 94 yards in 14 carries. The score came shortly after a 45-yard touchdown pass by Canoga Park was nullified by a holding penalty.
Mike Spangle of Canoga Park completed 16 of 31 passes for 195 yards, but was sacked six times for 51 yards.
Monroe took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 37-yard touchdown run by Tyrone Burwell, who gained 115 yards in 15 carries.
Canoga Park (1-1) drove 76 yards in 11 plays on the ensuing possession, capped by a two-yard touchdown run by Michael Burns.
