Homeowners living near Fairview Park are taking a hard stance against concrete. Tim Cromwell, who owns a home on Swan Drive, which backs onto the park, gathered more than 100 signatures for a petition to oppose the city’s plan to pave several of the park’s bicycle and pedestrian trails with asphalt or concrete.
Cromwell, who said he just recently discovered the city’s plans for the park, delivered the petition, along with a letter, to the city. He and some of his neighbors believe that Fairview Park’s attraction is that it’s relatively wild, open and unplanned.
The City Council approved the paving in 1997.
