Re “Federal Reserve Now Fears Slowdown Instead of Inflation,” Dec. 20: Is Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan so far out of reach and touch with reality? Can someone tell him that his imagined fixation on inflation is much easier to stomach than losing 75% of your savings? I cannot understand how this chairman, who may be suffering from illusions of power, has the means to cause this much damage to the economies of the world. This character needs to be booted.

* In spite of the collapsing economy, I notice that Greenspan is still fighting inflation--except for his own recent 11% pay raise (Dec. 9).
