Deputies Seek Help in Finding Suspect

Sheriff’s deputies are asking the public to help locate a man suspected of stealing a patrol car last weekend.
On Sunday, authorities arrested 30-year-old Barrett Allen Stites of Moorpark on suspicion of trying to run over a deputy with a car, evading arrest and driving under the influence.
As Stites was being taken for a medical evaluation before being booked, authorities said, he moved his handcuffed arms from behind his back to in front of him. When the deputy stopped the patrol car to re-handcuff Stites, he forced his way through the prisoner partition and drove off in the car.
Using a global positioning device, deputies found the car on Sunny Glen Drive in Moorpark.
Deputies ask that anyone with information about Stites contact them at 532-2715.
