Brethren Christian 48, Palos Verdes Chadwick 30--Sophomore forward Heather Spowart scored 15 points for Brethren Christian (9-6).

Capistrano Valley 37, Cerritos Gahr 36--Lindsey Peloza (13 points) made two free throws with seven seconds remaining for Capistrano Valley (10-4). Nicki Howard led the Cougars with 14 points.

Cypress 36, Lakewood St. Joseph 35--Michelle Mitchell sank two free throws with 24 seconds remaining to give Cypress (8-7) a one-point lead and Kristy Schmitz (11 points, 11 rebounds) sealed the victory with a blocked shot in the closing seconds.

Villa Park 58, Costa Mesa 37--Kelly Shimizu scored 22 points and Lauren Yadon had 16 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for visiting Villa Park (8-8), which lost to Costa Mesa by 12 in the final of the Mustangs’ tournament last week.

Western 57, Sunny Hills 39--China Brown scored 14 points and had 16 rebounds for Western and Angel Davis had 16 points. Jessica Perez led Sunny Hills with 12 points.

Capistrano Valley Christian 63, Connelly 28--Bethany Thom had 24 points and eight steals to lead Capistrano Valley Christian.

Fairmont 50, St. Margaret’s 44--Freshman Sonia Hilson scored 12 of her 25 points in the fourth quarter to rally Fairmont (8-3, 1-0).
