Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the case of a man who was shot in the back as he walked along Eucalyptus Drive on Tuesday night.
Gilbert Amaro, 25, of Nyeland Acres was shot just before 9:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Eucalyptus. When deputies arrived, witnesses told them the victim had been taken by friends to St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard.
At the hospital, Amaro told police he did not know why he was shot or who the gunman was. Amaro’s wounds were not life-threatening, authorities said.
Authorities, who don’t suspect the shooting was gang-related, ask that anyone with information call the sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit at 654-2349
