Which team should be favored to win the Pacific View League boys’ basketball title seems to depend on whom you ask.
Coach Henry Lobo of defending champion Oxnard says Hueneme is the team to beat.
But Coach Tom McCollum of Hueneme laughed loudly when informed of Lobo’s comments.
Oxnard, which was 8-0 in the inaugural Pacific View League season last year, and Channel Islands are expected to battle for league title this season, followed by Hueneme, Camarillo and Rio Mesa.
Oxnard, led by 6-foot-6 junior center Nicholas Curtis, had an 11-4 record entering a game Wednesday against visiting Buena.
Channel Islands, led by Manny Berrelleza, was 9-5 heading into a game at Ventura on Wednesday.
