Democrats and Gun Control

Re “Legislature’s Democrats Plan to Push Gun Control,” Jan. 3: I think the Democrats are definitely taking the wrong approach to curbing gun violence by attempting to pass laws infringing upon the rights of legal gun owners. Many of us have sat by while more and more restrictions have been implemented by the state. Further restrictions are forcing an “us or them” environment, hardening my resolve to resist any further laws.
Many reasonable people, formerly silent, will be voicing their opposition and will now make contributions to candidates who are not expressed “antigun” politicians. Reasonable people will respond negatively to unreasonable measures.

So the attorney general and Handgun Control think that this bulge in gun sales is just a fluke and that in time they will all go away (Jan. 1). Where? Steel doesn’t evaporate. Firearms are forever and the numbers sold far exceed those confiscated or turned in.
When will these silly liberals figure out that gun control laws sell guns, in spite of any feeble spin they can put out? Gun control isn’t about safety or decreasing crime, it’s about political points and our side versus their side for the big game in the statehouse. And we are equally foolish to put up with it.

Can a single NRA “handguns for all” supporter dispute a simple fact: If George Harrison lived in the same country where John Lennon lived, George would now be with John.
