Residents throughout most of South Orange County may hear loud explosions or feel rumbling throughout most of the day today when Marines conduct operations with 500-pound bombs and heavy artillery at Camp Pendleton.
The exercises will run from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in an impact area on the north end of the military base. Depending upon atmospheric conditions, the explosions might be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
