Matadors Slip By Montana State

Two free throws by Lynda Amari with eight seconds to play secured Cal State Northridge’s 54-51 victory over Montana State on Thursday night in a Big Sky Conference women’s basketball game at Bozeman, Mont.
Amari, a senior forward, finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Senior forward Neda Milic had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Matadors (11-4, 5-0 in Big Sky play).
Senior center Keisha Harris and junior guard Edniesha Curry each scored 13 points for Northridge, the defending conference champion.
Montana State (4-11, 0-4) tied the score, 47-47, with 3:39 to play and pulled ahead, 51-50, on two free throws by Jennifer Curl with 1:27 remaining.
Harris gave Northridge a 52-51 lead with a layup nine seconds later.
Northridge outrebounded Montana State, 51-33.

Hoover 1, Glendale 0--Don Daniels scored on a penalty kick early in the second half of a Pacific League game at Hoover.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Rio Mesa 4, Channel Islands 2--Natalya Dergan and Chrissy Hildebrandt each had a goal and an assist for host Rio Mesa in a Pacific View League game.
Louisville 6, Notre Dame 1--The Royals (10-2-6, 2-2-1), ranked No. 4 in the region by The Times, scored five times in the second half of a Mission League game at Notre Dame.
Nicole Farenbaugh scored two second-half goals and her sister, Jenny, had a goal and an assist.
Verdugo Hills 3, Hollywood 2--Lorena Aguilar, Brenda Lazo and Luz Sanchez each scored for the host Dons (7-3-1, 2-2) in a Sunset Six League game.
Sanchez leads the team with 10 goals.
Grant 3, Poly 0--Claudia Brand had a goal and an assist, and the Lancers (6-1-1, 4-0) scored three second-half goals in a Sunset Six League game at Poly.
Simone Knoff made seven saves and recorded her fifth shutout.
WRESTLING
Simi Valley 43, Agoura 30--Tom Hadduck pinned Russell Kairouz in the second period of the 160-pound match to clinch the victory in a Marmonte League dual match.
The Pioneers (4-1, 4-1), ranked No. 9, recorded pins in five weight classes. No. 7-ranked Agoura is 4-1, 4-1.
El Camino Real 79, Canoga Park 0--The host Conquistadores (19-2, 2-0), ranked No. 3, won 10 weight classes by pin in a Valley League dual match.
