In Poland, television viewers generally did not have access to any Super Bowl broadcast, but a few newspapers wrote about the imminent game as a strange American phenomenon.

“In Super America, every Super American--and surely every Superman--watches the Super Bowl,” reported Zycie, a leading daily newspaper.

“The so-called average American knows three things for sure: America was discovered by Christopher Columbus, hamburgers and Coca-Cola are the best in the world, and Kennedy was the best president,” Zycie said. “And there is the fourth thing: the most important day in the year. In America, that is the so-called Super Sunday, a day with the football championship game called the Super Bowl.”
