Valley Bottoms Out in 10th at Glendale

Andy Lopez’s run-scoring single in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted Glendale College to a 9-8 Western State Conference Southern Division victory over Valley on Thursday at Stengel Field in Glendale.
Glendale (8-10-1, 3-4 in conference play) trailed, 8-5, entering the ninth but capitalized on two hit batters, a walk and Mike Roux’s run-scoring single to tie the game.
Lopez, who finished with three hits, hit a two-run homer to tie the game, 5-5, in the seventh.
Steve Kracow had three hits and three runs batted in for Valley (5-9, 0-6).
Vic Herrera (3-0) of Glendale allowed two hits and an unearned run in the final two innings.
Pierce 10, Canyons 1--Doug Slaten (3-1) scattered seven hits and struck out six in eight innings for the Brahmas, who scored six runs in the ninth of a WSC Southern Division game at Canyons.
Jared Penwarden had two doubles, a single and two RBIs, Kona Sampaio had three hits and Nick Browne hit a grand slam for Pierce (9-5, 5-2).
Chris Mayberry had three hits for the Cougars (9-7, 5-3).
Hancock 5, Oxnard 4--Paul Swack singled to drive in the winning run with one out in a two-run eighth inning for the Bulldogs in a WSC Northern Division game at Hancock.
Oxnard (11-7, 4-4) had a 3-0 lead through five innings as Matt Kleckner hit a two-run home run in the fifth and Wes Munyon hit a solo shot in the third.
Paul McAnulty hit a solo home run in the eighth for the Condors.
Kelsey Tomyn hit a home run and a triple and finished with three hits and two RBIs for Hancock (12-6, 5-1).
Santa Barbara 11, Ventura 5--Will Reidlinger had two hits, an RBI and scored a run, but the Pirates (10-7, 3-5) lost a WSC Northern Division game at Santa Barbara.
