A teenage passenger in a car that veered off a Lancaster road and slammed into a house died early Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Nicholas Johnson, 17, of Lake Los Angeles, died at 12:30 a.m. at Antelope Valley Hospital, said Scott Carrier, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The car’s driver, identified as Dameon Deon Hill, 20, of Lancaster, also died in Tuesday’s crash.
Investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the car was traveling about 65 mph west on Avenue K when it swerved off the road, crashing through a cinder-block wall and into the dining room of a house in the 43600 block of Gingham Avenue.
No one in the home was hurt. Three other passengers in the vehicle, all males between the ages of 16 and 21, suffered moderate injuries.
Lt. Richard Lichten of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station said investigators did not believe alcohol or drugs had been a factor in the crash.
