The Traffic Commission will vote tonight on whether to recommend that the City Council have speed bumps installed on Oriente Drive. Staff recommended the bumps based on a recent traffic management study in the Lakeview Avenue, Palm Avenue and Oriente Drive neighborhoods.
The study was initiated by three residents who had complained about excessive speed and traffic volume. Oriente Drive, less than a mile long, has 638 households. The commission may consider additional measures if it finds the speed bumps insufficient to regulate traffic, said traffic engineer Bernie Dennis.
The commission will meet at 7 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 4845 Casa Loma Ave.
