The City Council honored Lillian Kuhlendahl as crossing guard of the year at its meeting Tuesday.
The Fountain Valley woman started as a crossing guard at Moiola Elementary School in 1977 and has worked at several schools since.
There has never been an accident at any of her crossings. The city previously honored her in 1993 for her service. She now crosses children of students she helped across streets years ago.
