* Registration of firearms and licensing of their owners, as advocated by participants in the Mothers’ Day march on Washington, will do about as much to reduce firearms accidents and violence as registration of motor vehicles and licensing of their owners have done to reduce automobile accidents, car theft, road rage and prime-time freeway chases. These schemes will serve only to harass legitimate gun owners.
