The Boys & Girls Club of La Habra and Brea is trying to raise $10,000 for its child athletic programs for the next year.
Club officials hope the fund-raiser, Precious Pennies for Our Precious Kids, will collect 1 million pennies during the summer-long effort using cans placed in businesses and other locations throughout the city.
The collection will continue through Aug. 26, when the pennies will be spread out on the club’s gymnasium floor for the children to see the fund-raiser’s success, club officials said.
Proceeds will benefit club basketball, football, softball and other sports programs by providing equipment and support for the children, they added.
Cans are still available and can be found at the Boys & Girls Club of La Habra/Brea at 1211 E. Fahringer Way.
