Scouts Airlifted After Adult Leader Falls Ill
- Share via
A group of Boy Scouts was airlifted out of an area north of Lake Piru on Sunday afternoon after one of the adults suffered heat-related problems.
Temperatures had nearly reached 100 when Robert Hines, 43, of Thousand Oaks reported feeling ill, authorities said.
A member of the group called park rangers with a cell phone about 5:45 p.m. and reported that the Scouts were stranded. A Ventura County sheriff’s helicopter lifted the group to an area accessible by vehicles.
Hines was taken to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
