NORTH HOLLYWOOD — A 45-year-old man was killed in North Hollywood on Friday when he tried to pass an 18-wheel truck on a small motorized scooter, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman said.
The scooter, driven by North Hollywood resident Ron Michaels, collided with the truck about 12:20 p.m. at Colfax Avenue and Chandler Boulevard.
The truck had been traveling west on Chandler, and was turning right onto Colfax when Michaels, who was headed in the same direction, attempted to pass the truck on the right, LAPD Officer La Donna Cissell said.
No charges have been filed, and the investigation is continuing, Cissell said.
