3 Cyclists Plead Guilty to Damaging Federal Land

Three men pleaded guilty Wednesday to destroying federal property after riding their bicycles into a park area in order to build an illegal trail where bicycles were prohibited.
Michael More, 47, of San Rafael; William McBride, 50, of Ross; and Neal Daskal, 46, of Oakland, were charged with conspiring to injure and injuring federal property. More was also charged with unlawfully cutting trees in federal property.
The three men moved rocks, downed tree limbs and sawed a downed log in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area to build the trail in an area they said they knew was closed to bicycles. The area is an undeveloped Douglas fir and California bay forest that provides critical habitat for the threatened northern spotted owl.
