Record Roller Coaster Planned in Las Vegas
- Share via
The Stratosphere hotel-casino wants to build a record-breaking roller coaster that will launch riders from 740 feet down across Las Vegas Boulevard at speeds topping 120 mph.
The proposal has neighbors lining up in opposition.
The project would break the record for height and speed, now held by a ride in Ohio.
The Stratosphere will seek plan approval at a Las Vegas Planning Commission meeting next week.
John Delikanakis, of the Southridge community association, said the thrill ride would add to the neighborhood’s noise problems. “Who wants to live under a roller coaster? If there is a quicker way to destroy a neighborhood, I don’t know of one.”
