McCain Will Undergo Prostate Operation

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) will undergo minor surgery in Phoenix, Ariz., today, his 65th birthday, to treat a benign enlargement of his prostate and related symptoms.
A spokeswoman said that the condition was unrelated to the lawmaker’s diagnosis of melanoma last year and that McCain would be hospitalized for one or two days and be back on Capitol Hill when Congress returns Tuesday from its August recess.
McCain had two malignant melanomas removed last year from his left temple and left arm. Medical checkups since then had shown no evidence of cancer, his office said.
