After receiving an honorary doctorate in fine arts from Cal State Fullerton at its commencement ceremony May 25, actor Nicolas Cage enjoyed a champagne brunch with new flame Lisa Marie Presley and college dignitaries.
“Doctor Cage--you’d better get used to [the title],” university President Milton Gordon told the Academy Award- winning actor during the festivities at El Dorado Ranch in Fullerton.
Standing before guests who included his brother, Christopher Coppola, Cage thanked Gordon, saying that “this has really been one of the best days of my life.”
“My father is a professor and I’ve always wanted to be able to achieve something like this,” he added. “You’ve made that a reality.”
Presley pronounced the honorary degree “fantastic.”
After brunch, Cage hopped a limo to Columbia Studios in Los Angeles to wrap his new movie, “Adaptations,” with Meryl Streep.
