FAA Approves New Runway at Logan

Building a new runway at Boston’s Logan International Airport, one of the nation’s busiest, would not have a significant effect on the environment and would reduce flight delays, a draft review showed.
An executive summary of the complex environmental report, the result of a joint effort by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Massachusetts Port Authority, was released Friday.
The FAA must sign off on environmental concerns about the project before it can move forward. Environmental review can take more than six years.
The state wants to build a 5,000-foot runway to handle growing regional jet service and make overall air traffic operations at New England’s biggest airport run more smoothly.
