Santa Margarita’s Scott to Play for UCLA

Damien Scott of Santa Margarita High has committed to play volleyball at UCLA, Eagle Coach John Hawks said Tuesday. Scott, a 6-foot-5 senior middle blocker, was a second-team All Southern Section Division I and first-team All-Serra League selection last season.
Hawks said Scott might play the libero position for Coach Al Scates, who has led the Bruins to 18 NCAA championships. UCLA is playing in this year’s Final Four at Long Beach State, beginning Thursday.
“Damien just wants to get his foot in the door,” Hawks said. “Who can blame him? They have a great program and a great coach.”
