Dana Hills Gets Past Long Beach Millikan

Lindsey Clanin’s run-scoring single in the eighth inning gave Dana Hills a 1-0 victory over Long Beach Millikan in the first round of the Southern Section Division I softball playoffs Friday.
Brittany Anzlovar’s one-out double preceded Clanin’s single. Allison Cohen and Candice Rainwater (11-8), who came on in the seventh, combined on a three-hitter.
When second-round play continues Tuesday, Dana Hills (18-10) will host Downey Warren (22-2).
In other Division I games:
Capistrano Valley 2, Palos Verdes Peninsula 0--Danielle Ross and Breanna Adame singled, and Kristin Timbers drove in both with a double in the sixth inning. Brooke Weekley (18-5) gave up three hits, for Capistrano Valley (21-7-1), which next plays Etiwanda.
Esperanza 5, Moreno Valley Canyon Springs 0--Kristen Dedmon pitched a two-hitter and struck out 11 for Esperanza (21-5-1). Diana Eberlein, Carolyn Bullard and April Murray had two hits apiece for Esperanza, which next plays Fontana Miller.
In Division IV:
Rancho Alamitos 2, Ocean View 0--Jami Weddle homered and Jessica Tarlton had an RBI single in the fourth inning for the Vaqueros (16-9).
In Division V:
Orange Lutheran 11, Gardena Serra 0--Laura Miklos pitched a no-hitter and struck out 13 for Orange Lutheran (19-8), which next plays at Ventura St. Bonaventure. Miklos also had three hits, scored twice and drove in a run.
St. Margaret’s 11, Montebello Cantwell Sacred Heart 2--Monique Kettler (7-7) and Kristin Petersen had two RBIs apiece for the Tartans (12-11).
In Division VI:
Oxford 5, North Hollywood Oakwood 0--Freshman Melissa Porche (10-5) pitched a perfect game, striking out 15 for the Patriots (14-5).
