Tribe Eyes Site for Casino and Hotel

A Northern California Indian tribe has taken the first steps toward opening a $100-million casino in West Sacramento.
Members of the Upper Lake Rancheria band of Pomo Indians have bought an option on the 65-acre parcel across the Sacramento River from Natomas.
Bob Roskamp, who represents the tribe, said the band estimates that it will cost $100 million to build a casino and a 400-room hotel.
“It would be first-class and it could generate pretty good cash flow for the city,” said Frank Ramos, one of the developers, adding that the plan is “very, very preliminary.”
