Pick Your Parts Gives Away 320 Live Turkeys

The 320 live turkeys that had been corralled at Glenn McElroy’s Pick Your Parts salvage yards in Anaheim, Sun Valley and Wilmington have been relocated.
The birds were to have been prizes for a 25-cent promotion at the business. At the urging of animal-rights activists, McElroy called off the contest but was stuck with the birds.
McElroy’s secretary, Debbie Chalmers, said Monday that about 100 of the turkeys will be donated to Farm Sanctuary for its Adopt-a-Turkey program. Several other birds were given to employees of Pick Your Parts, and others will be donated to the East Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce.
