Rising Licensing Fee

Re “Auto Fee Rollback May Be in Jeopardy,” Nov. 18: The Legislature and governor should not roll back the popular tax cut for annual vehicle licensing fees. In these lean times (surely to get leaner), the 67.5% fee reduction is financially helping me, my family and most other California vehicle owners. With the projected state budget deficit, a rise in this tax is mandated, without voter approval, to make up for the lost revenue to local governments.

To solve this funding problem, the Legislature and governor should find a solution other than raising the annual vehicle licensing fee.
