Guard Troops Ordered to Report

Nearly 2,000 California Army National Guard troops were ordered to report to armories Wednesday, though an official said they would probably be sent home the same day.
“We’re bringing them in to assess the battalions; it does not mean they are being called up [for activation],” the official said.
The order affects 1,600 to 2,200 troops and is independent of the activation of Guard personnel to secure airports.
Units called include the 160th Infantry Battalion, with companies in Los Angeles, Ventura and Kern counties. The battalion operates cannon-equipped troop transporters.
