A trustee of Newport-Mesa Unified School District could face charges of driving under the influence in connection with a traffic accident last week, police said Tuesday.
Jim Ferryman, 53, was arrested Thursday night after a two-car collision on Newport Boulevard near 16th Street, Police Sgt. Don Holford said. It was not clear who was at fault, Holford said. No one was injured.
Officers responding to the accident smelled alcohol on Ferryman’s breath and arrested him, Holford said. Ferryman submitted a blood sample and was freed on his own recognizance the same evening.
Charges are pending until the outcome of the blood test, which can take two weeks, Holford said.
