Comets’ Life in the Limelight

How good was Westchester this season? One local coach said the Comets could have beaten some college teams. Westchester’s run to the state championship culminated in a game against Oakland Tech at Sacramento’s Arco Arena on March 23. The players waited to take the court before the game, right, but the high-flying Comets put on a show during warmups, above, and went on to complete their 32-2 season with an 80-75 victory. Hassan Adams, bottom left, and Brandon Heath were of particular interest to ESPN cameras before the game for a show titled “Sidelines: LA Hoops,” and Arizona Coach Lute Olson, below, no stranger when it comes to recruiting local players, showed up for a game against Fairfax in January to watch Adams, who will be a Wildcat next season.
