Yucaipa, San Pedro Lose in Baseball Semifinals

Yucaipa lost, 19-12, to unbeaten Cartersville, Ga., in the U.S. championship game of Little League Baseball’s Junior League World Series (ages 13-14) on Friday at Taylor, Mich. Yucaipa finished 3-1 in pool play after an 8-2 loss to Lake Charles, La., on Thursday.
Cartersville defeated international champion Panama City, 3-2, for the championship.
San Pedro was eliminated from the Senior League World Series (ages 14-16) on Friday when it lost, 8-2, to eventual champion Curacao, the Latin America representative, in the semifinals at Bangor, Maine.
In Little League softball, Palmdale lost, 3-2, to Grand Rapids, Mich., in a semifinal of the Big League World Series (ages 16-18) on Thursday at Kalamazoo, Mich.
Glendale defeated the Netherlands, 12-0, in a consolation game of the Senior League World Series (ages 14-16) on Friday at Jeffersontown, Ky. Glendale beat Canada, 1-0, on Thursday to finish pool play in third place at 2-2.
North Venice finished 0-4 in the Junior League World Series (ages 13-14) at Kirkland, Wash. North Venice lost to Florida, 2-1, on Tuesday and to Michigan, 5-4, on Wednesday.
