* Compton Centennial guard Gabriel Pruitt scored 50 points in two games Saturday as the Apaches won the Modesto Christian tournament. Pruitt, a sophomore, made six three-point shots and finished with 25 points in Centennial’s 80-61 semifinal victory over Modesto Christian and added five three-point shots and 25 points in the Apaches’ championship win against Long Beach Poly.
* Muir’s Ryan Hollins made 16 of 17 shots and finished with 33 points in the Mustangs’ 99-36 victory over Schurr.
* Carson center Ekene Ibekwe had 28 points, 16 rebounds and six blocked shots in the Colts’ 78-75 loss to Clovis.
UPSETS
* Hueneme defeated then-No. 19 Lakewood, 47-44.
* Moorpark defeated then-No. 22 Thousand Oaks, 75-55.
* Monrovia defeated then-No. 23 Claremont, 52-51.
TEAMS ON THE RISE
* Covina. The Colts (13-1) won their own tournament by defeating Bishop Amat, 74-68, in the championship.
* Mission Viejo. The Diablos (12-2) rebounded from a two-loss week by winning the San Diego Mt. Carmel tournament.
* Bishop Montgomery. The Knights (10-4) finished strong in the Modesto Christian tournament with two consolation-round victories Saturday.
LOOKING AHEAD
* Woodbridge plays at No. 3 Santa Margarita at 7 p.m. Friday in a rematch of a game Santa Margarita pulled out in the fourth quarter earlier this season.
* No. 9 Mater Dei plays No. 13 Villa Park at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Long Beach Pyramid.
* No. 14 Crenshaw plays Northern California power Concord De La Salle at 8 p.m. Saturday at Lynwood High.
