President Names New Central Bank Chief

Argentina’s caretaker government named Aldo Pignanelli president of the central bank, giving the little-known banker command over monetary policy as the nation struggles with an economic crisis.
Pignanelli, who had been the bank’s vice president, will replace Mario Blejer, who resigned Monday.
Blejer, who worked for two decades at the International Monetary Fund, had tangled with Economy Minister Roberto Lavagna over ways to steer Argentina out of a four-year recession.
