Gerald Sheppard, 76; Attorney Served on Pepperdine Board

Gerald A. Sheppard, 76, a Los Angeles attorney who had served on the Pepperdine University board since 1978, died of cancer Monday at his home in Glendale.
He was a founding member of the university’s graduate School of Public Policy and a member of the Board of Visitors of the School of Law and the Graziadio School of Business and Management.
For many years, Sheppard was a partner with the Los Angeles law firm of Shield & Smith and more recently served “of counsel”--a senior lawyer but not a partner--with the Los Angeles law firm of Holley & Galen.
Sheppard was formerly a clinical assistant professor at the USC School of Dentistry, an assistant professor of jurisprudence at Loma Linda University’s School of Dentistry, and a lecturer at the UCLA Dental School. He wrote numerous essays on the legal aspects of dentistry.
Born in Los Angeles, Sheppard earned his undergraduate and law degrees at USC.
