Marine Collapses, Dies During Basic Training

A Marine recruit died early Sunday after collapsing during routine basic training, officials said.
Pvt. Neal Edwards IV of St. Clair, Mo., collapsed after negotiating an obstacle course Saturday afternoon during physical training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.
Drill instructors administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation until paramedics arrived.
Edwards was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:33 a.m. Sunday.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death, officials said.
